FagronLab™ ION-e
Static eliminator
The ION-e is a benchtop ionizer, compact and developed specifically for the daily needs of the compounding pharmacy. It generates positive and negative ions continuously to neutralize the electrostatic charges created during powder handling, so fine powders stop clinging to spatulas, weighing boats and jar walls — the single largest source of material loss and dosage variation at the bench.

How it is used

- Prevents material loss and dosage variation during transfer into PM jars, EMP jars and milling bottles.
- Used across solutions, suspensions, creams, gels, suppositories, sachets and capsules.

Why electrostatics matter in compounding
Electrostatic forces — the Coulomb force — cause particles to attract or repel one another depending on their electrical charge. In pharmaceutical operations these charges are created constantly, because most dosage forms are solids and powders are handled against plastics, glass and acrylic surfaces.
That contact, impact, friction or shear produces charge through a process called triboelectrification. Most pharmaceutical powders are insulators, so they retain the charge generated on their surfaces rather than dissipating it.
The cost of charged powders
Charged powders behave unpredictably: increased agglomeration, adhesion to surfaces and aerosolization. In practice this means equipment blockages, product losses, cross-contamination from particles left in the environment, uneven content uniformity, batch variation, poor reproducibility and imprecise weighing.
An ionizer neutralizes those charges at the source. The ION-e brings that capability into a format suited to the daily routine of a compounding pharmacy, delivering safer, more consistent formulations to patients.
